Hi! My name is Jessi. I am new to having backyard birds. My husband's brother and friend of ours finally got him to give in to having chickens and guineas for bug eating and for me to have some eggs :)

We bought 4 salmon faverolles, 1 polish, 1 silver spangled something, and 6 guineas. Sadly I was stupid and left their pen open at night and coyotes got all the chickens except one faverolle and one of the "guineas." :*( I certianly learned my lesson, but I feel terrible for my poor birds :(

I've since bought more chickens: 2 SL wynadottes (sp?), 1 ameracauna (sp?) and one I think I'm not sure what it is. Pics provided for help :)

And as for the "guineas...." Two I thought were just older than the other four (one of which was the one the coyotes got). They were bigger, looked different as they grew (I didn't notice a different as young keets). They didn't act like the others either, and I could pet them. My husband called them "vulture chickens" d/t the naked necks.

Then my FB friends clued me in: they're not guineas, they're turkeys! OOPS! LOL There were turkey poults and guinea keets in the same "tub" at the feed store. I never wanted to own a turkey, they kinda scared me. But I <3 my turkey, now I want another ;) If I find a royal palm for sale, I'll have to buy it!

And Saturday we went to the feed store for more chicken feed and I saw three adorable ducklings. Actually I saw them a couple weeks ago, too (only there were more then) but couldn't talk my husband into them. This time I was successful ;) I'm pretty sure (after reading another thread on here I came across via a google search) they're mallards. And all I can say is, OMG ducklings are the CUTEST THING and I LOVE THEM! Even if they don't love me ;)

Here are some pics of my feathered friends.

More pics in a minute, having issues with the 'puter...

Turkey with them. I STILL laugh at myself for thinking he/she was a guinea ;)

Mystery hen... rhode island red?

I think this brownish one is an Americauna?
