Hi all, I am new to the backyard chicken phase though I got the bug many years ago when I hatched out chickens in an incubator for my preschool class. Now I am building my own flock the same way. My summer school class and I hatched out 6 chickens in July and they all live with me now. Unfortunately at least half of them are rooster! But I will add to the hens because there is nothing like fresh pastured eggs! Glad to be here availing myself of the wisdom of other chicken lovers.

Well...according to the other posters I only have ONE hen! And I can't have roosters here in the city so they will all be leaving us the weekend. Which also means I will be looking for more chickens since I can't have one poor little hen Grrr

That's the one drawback to hatching eggs - we always get too many roosters.
