Hi!
My name is Heather! I live in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. I am married to a wonderful man and we have a 20 month old son, 2 dogs, 2 cats and a swimming pond with goldfish and koi.

I am relatively new to chickens but I had White Broilers growing up. We don't have any chickens currently but I am doing researching and planning for the future.

I am looking for cold hearty dual breeds that are med-large egg layers but I would love to have a broody variety so we can organically replenish our flock.

Not much else to tell about me and my family. I love to garden, read books with our son. Hang out with our dogs and friends.
I look forward to talking and learning with everyone! :celebrate

Hi Heather and welcome to BYC :frow I started with broilers (CX) and then moved to layers. I'll be back to broilers soon--but been focusing on my layer flock. 140 will feed my family for a year. Again welcome and we're so glad you joined us:yesss:

Hi RJohns39,
Thank you so much! I appreciate the advice! I'm getting a little overwhelmed with all of the research that I've been doing! Its nice to get onto a forum and have such wonderful people answer my questions so quickly! Thanks again!

The biggest challenge is there are so many different approaches, most all of them good. It comes down to finding what's best for you and will translate to what's best for your birds. We all make mistakes, just learn from them and move on. Again, welcome.
