 ).  That way it gets used to noise.   I have a hot water bottle, but before that used large water bottles, fill with hot water, wrap it in a towel, and lay it in the brooder.  They have liked to cuddle up to it.  Other things I've heard of but never tried are a mirror or stuffed animal.   Those water bottles, the TV, and lots of human intervention were key for us.  After a couple of days, it was always happy and the few times it would cry, I would just talk to it and it quieted down.   The only other suggestion is if you could safely put your "brooder" up higher on a table or something so you aren't hovering over it so much when you go to pick it up.
