Hi, my name is Lisa and I'm new here. I grew up on a farm with chickens and recently decided that since I live in the country, I'd like to have some more.

So we recently acquired 3 Silkie chicks and 8 other chicks. They've grown a lot and are getting ready to go into their new chicken coop this weekend (as soon as my son-in-law finishes it.) Of the 8 other chicks, 4 have turned out to be roosters and 4 are hens. Is that too many roosters?

:welcome and good luck with your poultry adventure! :frow They sure grow fast don't they? One rooster would be plenty for your hens, with that many they may start to fight. Your hens are also going to start losing feathers on their backs and heads from so many roosters, once they start getting interested in hens that is.
