Beaverton OREGON
Hello!

I have finally joined. I have a flock of 12 hens and 1 rooster (plus two turkeys). Mostly Americanas and RIRs, but I have a Buff Orpington, a Barred Rock and a Black Star as well. My rooster is an Americana--this way I know the blue and green eggs can hatch true if I ever want to hatch any (well, if I want to let my hens hatch them....)

I live in Cedar Hills, right outside of Beaverton Oregon, so our micro farm (quarter acre) is not inside the city limits, which is great.

Glad to be here,

Julie

Hello and welcome to BYC

Glad you joined us!

Thank you for all the welcomes. I'm adding a Cuckoo Maran (feather footed), a Rhode Island White and a Speckled Sussex pullet to my backyard flock this week--that will give me 15 hens. I'd never seen a RIW before these ones arrived, and I've been wanting a Cuckoo Maran for ages, and I've heard that the Speckled Sussex is a great layer-- it will be nice to incorporate them in. Luckily I have a placid flock, I added 4 pullets early this year and there was very little fuss. I think my rooster keeps everything in order out there, which is just fine with me.

It's good to finally arrive at a place where I can talk about them as much as I want to!
