Hello from Bentonville, AR!

I just adopted what I believe to be a Rhode Island Red , that was dumped (I think) outside our salon . In a nail tech. She is completely tame and very gentle . Her beak has been shortened a lot at some point. Never had a chicken , so in looking for good information

! Great to have you here and nice rescue! Chicken care can seem daunting but it pretty much boils down to their needs: proper food, water and predator proof shelter. I recommend you take a tour of the Learning Center link below. The tabs within in cover a lot of ground but it is worth the read. Also, you might consider adding a bird or two - chickens do better with company. Good luck to you and your chicken!

If her beak was shortened she may have been a layer hen at some big egg factory.
