I just started my flock in June with 6 chicks I got from Destiny Farms in Milford. All but one survived (my silkie drowned itself.. ) and I just recently got a few more starter pullets , a couple chicks Mike gave to my son and a Rooster!

So now we have:

1 Australorp rooster
1 Isa Brown hybrid cockerel
4 RIW hens
2 Isa Brown hens
1 White Leghorn
and 2 chicks, another leghorn and a silkie :)

*fingers crossed for this silkie, I raised their water up, hopefully that works!*

Hi kristinn, welcome to BYC!

I put clean stones or marbles in the water dish for my little ones. They drink in between the stones, and can't get in to drown.

The marbles also attract the chicks to the water to drink more, just make sure if you wash the marbles, don't use HOT water because they will crack.
