Hello from Brisbane

Hi my name is Armyne. I live in Oregon but was born in Brisbane. What suburb do you live in? I was born in bowen Hills but the last time we lived in Australia in the 1980's we lived in Logan village nrea Beenleigh.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome - what a big world we live in yet we are one in our passion!!

Armyne, in answer to your question, I live across the river from where you were born, I am at Norman Park.
Brisbane is a lot different now from the 80's, in that it's grown so much! The city reaches out almost to Logan Village nowadays!!

After i married my husband who is from New Zealand we lived in Wynnum Manly.

When we lived in Logan village it did not even have water, we had to rely on rain water or truck it in. It was very rural we had a store, a pup and a school.

I lived on Breakfast Creek Road as a child near where Cloudlands was. Cloudlands was a large dance pravillion that was distroyed in the 80's.

Last I heard the old house was still there and was used as a boarding house, it was a large house that my grandfather built for my grandmother.

One day I would like to come back for a look. Oregon is very nice with green forests, mountains and lots of rain. We also have rain forests with ferns.

In Brisbane do you have trouble keeping your chickens cool? It's quite hot and humid there year round, right?

I am in Melbourne, but concerned about how I will keep my girls cool in the hot, dry summer months next year.
Any thoughts?

Hi,

If you go to Backyard Poultry forum in Australia there is a whole heap of info on that for keeping chicks cool in summer, not sure of the exact address, you may have to Google it.
Welcome from sunny Tassie - this summer WE'VE even had trouble keeping our chickens cool!
