StarCanyonChicks
In the Brooder
Hi! This is my first time having chickens, and I got my 3 chicks at 2 weeks old from a local hatchery in June 2020. I've got a black sexlink (Fefe), a golden laced wyandotte (Petra), and a barred Plymouth rock (Isabella). They are currently around 13-14 weeks, with Isabella most likely being the eldest. I've always grown up around animals, and birds and fowl have always been some of my favorite animals (I used to help at an exotic bird sanctuary and rescue). Being able to just bond with them and how relaxing (and hilarious) it can be to just sit and watch them do their things is probably my favorite part. Plus, Petra and Isabella are very cuddly chickens, so its fun to get a whole bunch of chickens clamoring to be on my lap, or jumping onto my shoulders. As well as discovering each of their personalities. I'm an artist. Currently I'm working on applying for animation school, which is the career I want to go into. I also love gardening, horseback riding, hiking, building things and designing things (used to want to be an architect and went through 4 years of an engineering program, so its habit to want to always use that knowledge), and playing guitar. I live with my brother and mom, and I've got two cats (Talula and Fineas) and a 14 year old Great Pyrenees wolf mix (Izzy).
I've known about this site since I began researching and planning to have chickens, and gleaned some pretty great information from it, and decided to join after planning to for a few weeks. The final push was when Isabella began having a leg issue. She's recovering now.
