I have had chickens since April. I started with 5, then acquired 2 more. In July, I bought eggs to hatch and currently have (10) 8-week old chicks.![]()

Love the name of the lavender Orpington, so cool, that sounds fun to try, hatch a store egg!I hatched a lavender orpington (the egg was purchased online from a farm back east). She (Laverne) is the youngest of the chicks. The first hatch (TJ) was a white fertile egg I bought at Trader Joe's. The rest were brown eggs from a local farm. I don't know their breeds. I posted pics on another thread. I'll do it here too.

Yes, at least 2 are boys. They have started crowing and it's hilarious to hear them try. They sound like they have scratchy throats.Gorgeous looks like u mite have a few handsome boys there
