Hello, I'm Kat. I'm on my third hatch. I am a nursery school teacher in the UK. We have our own Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco incubator and brooder and we hatch chickens and ducks from local small-holders who take the chicks/ducklings back after we've hatched them and observed them grow a bit. It's very interesting and the children's faces when they first hear peeping from inside the shell or see the first egg pip or hatch make all our fretting and worrying as substitute mums well worth the effort.

from California! Sounds like fun, my daughter loves it when I get baby chicks

we never had fun stuff like that when I was in school.

We like to have animals in to visit too. We've had hedgehogs, rabbits, owls, eagles, falcons, tarantulas, pythons, giant hissing cockroaches, giant millipedes, geckos, skinks, corn snakes and a monitor lizard called Oscar! We have our own class pets too - two guinea pigs called hide and seek. Oh, I forgot the lobster and the crab!
