Hello From Central California

Wow, thanks for the amazing welcome. Again I am so grateful for the forum.

We are adopting the neighbors roosters and hens, hence the time crunch to get a coop and other things done before they sell their house.

Looking forward to learning from folks on here.

PS. Eberle is down the road just a bit from here. :)

Maybe Eberle is a nice place to take a "slow jog" to...!!! (and maybe a slower jog back)... LOL!

Welcome, we are also on the central coast in between Lake Nacimiento and Lake San Antonio, Bryson Hesperia area. 2 Roosters and 13 hens. 13 was still not enough hens for the two Roos. I have 5 more that we hatched but they are still 8 weeks away from being old enough for the Roos. The other girls will just have to suffer a little longer. Not bad on most of them but the Roos have their favorites and one Legbar is getting thin saddle feathers. I have a couple of saddles on the way.

So very soon we'll have four little roosters and two hens, all treated mostly like pets if that makes any sense. Of course they don't all get along, but between the six of them, they need three coops.

I'm a "noobie" in the care and handling of chicks, but I believe the roosters are Bantams (sp?) and I am unsure of the hen types.

Sure wish I discovered this awesome forum sooner. I am in the last leg of building a "triple coop" and found this forum when researching some details.

We're both retired and enjoying life in a rural Paso Robles, California. I also like to get up into the high Sierra to go hiking, been a long time amateur radio operator, and have been known to go jogging long distances at the slowest speed possible. :)

I'm grateful for all of the knowledge shared on this site.
Hiya! Nice to meet you
:welcome
