(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes we started about a year ago by luck. We found a beautiful cockrel at a farmers market and the guy did not even know what breed he was. I was with someone who had showed chickens for about 5 years. Well we got him and then my 6 year old showed him and enjoyed it greatly.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
over the past year I have acquired 33 more chickens and I am looking for more

(3) What breeds do you have?
That little cockrel turned out to be a minorca bantam (trying to find some hens for him), austrlorps, blue sumatras, khaki sumatras, dun sumatra, delwares, white rocks, black tailed white japanese, ameraucanas (black rooster and still waiting to see what colors I got in pullets)

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
was doing a search for poultry events in Florida

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
livestock, my kids and their 4-H, Farmville

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Well there is my husband, Chad, who works hard driving big trucks around the state. Then there is the 3 boys who are in 4-H. And all 3 have ended up having chickens. The oldest of the 3 also shows cattle, The middle one also shows rabbits. I have 2 other boys that dont live at home anymore.

Pets - 1 dog - Catahoula Leopard hound that just turned 15 years old 3 months ago, 10 cats, 2 horses, 2 pigs, 3 cows with calves, 2 heifers and a steer.

Right now I am a stay at home mom and ranch hand but I use to be vet tech.

from Ocala, FL. There's a swap coming up Saturday in Dunnellon/Citrus Springs area. There's bound to be something you could add to your list and meet a bunch of BYC neighbors.
