hello from central Florida

If you did I would put some wood shavings down for cushion and to help dry the poop out. That will help with any odor.

One of the things with chicken poop is you want it to dry out. Keeping it moist or wet by washing it out will cause odor issues. What I have been doing is either putting wood shaving in the coop and adding to it or just leave a bare plywood floor. Then every now and then going and rake it out into a bucket to dispose of.

i don't think i want to use wood. I feel that will rot and attract roaches. there are enough in that backyard as it is. I was thinking of maybe Sand on top of the grass? or sand on top of the patio bricks?

You can most definitely just put them on grass. They will eat the grass and if you don't move it around it will be a bare patch of ground in a matter of a week or so. Search for chicken tractor.

I will take a picture of my set up tomorrow it is a very basic setup and I have not had any problem with the weather with it.
