Good evening! I'm very excited to have stumbled upon BYC! I tell my friends that I am going to charge admission to my yard to cover the cost of the animals at my zoo! I am blessed with a husband who is as motivated as I am to be sustainable, 2 beautiful daughters, 4 lazy house cats, 3 dogs(2 labs and a siberian), a house bunny, and our coop pals!! Chickens have been part of our family for about 1 year. Orpy our rooster has 9 ladies and they enjoy a spacious, solar radiant heated coop. 2 hens hatched out 13 chicks this spring to add to our family. We have elected to leave the boys un-named and plan to send them off to butcher... It was a tough decision, but after seeing the way store bought chickens live, I am confident that these boys have a much better quality of life! I look forward to learning more about chickens and sharing stories!
