Good Morning all you lovely people! I have been hanging out on this page for a few weeks and thought it was time to make it official and join. I have seen so many wonderful chicken coop ideas that I am currently using to guide mine. It's not the best thing in the world, but for me, it's amazing since I'm not a builder. I currently have 6 hens and 1 rooster ( I think ). I have barred rock chickens that are a few weeks old already. I wanted to get started on the coop now since I need to source as many free materials as I can. Luckily for me, I have a neighbor who wanted to build a treehouse for his son but is too big for it already. So now I can get all the lumber I want for free. With prices being as high as they are, so far I've only spent $40. Not sure what color I want to paint it yet, but I'll probably go to the mis-tint section at Lowe's. I've included a clean-out door and a human door. All I have left to do is the siding, roof, door, and a nest box. I know I'll need a run too, but haven't figured out exactly what materials I'm going to use yet. I've seen PVC ones and wood ones.
I can't wait to get the chickens out to the coop since they are making my house very dirty, but I know it'll be worth the wait.
