Hello!
I am just getting started with breeding silkies and need help with identifying the colors here.
This rooster I acquired last year. I was told he is blue, but after going over color descriptions, I am doubting it since he has so much white and his “blue” more grey to me. Plus he has quite a bit of darker coloring, which doesn’t seem in line with the classic blue. I have two pics for your consideration.
Now the babies
My understanding is that buff has no black. I wasn’t wanting buff, so I grabbed a few that looked like they might have an interesting feather pattern. Is this a partridge mix by chance? I believe I have 3-4 buff colored chicks with this subtle black marking on the back.
So this little chick I believe is a partridge, but not a silver partridge. So what would this chipmunk honey color be called in the Silkie world?
Here is another “buff” with black markings
And another
I believe this one is a silver partridge?
Lastly…does anyone have a photo of a white, paint, and splash chick so I can determine if my two “white” chicks are both white?
Thank you!
