hi everyone
My name is Amy:)
I have six hens in my very city backyard. All my neighbors get eggs so it’s cool;)
The flock breakdown is: one rode island red, one Easter Egger, two Speckled Sussex, one Shappire gem, and one true blue whiting.
I have a large garden, I save my heirloom seeds, I can surplus veggies/jams/jellies, and grow fruit trees.
If you can do it yourself I’m probably dabbling I’m it. Lol. I even make my own lip balms, soaps, face serums, lotion bars, etc

I’m the kind of person who gets on Pinterest and actually does the things that I pin:)

I’ve eyed this group over the years to get ideas and pin point what was wrong with my chickens in the past. I joined now because I have a whiting true blue and a shappire gem and am so curious to see how this breed turns out.

I was going to ask you how you liked the whiting blue. I have UoA Blue egg layers that were a project using whiting blues. They are unique chickens for sure

So far she’s fine- rather flighty thing- but I’m starting to wonder if she’s actually a ‘he’ lol.
Her tail feathers are quite a bit longer than my other hens. And she’s only two months old. So it’s early. But I could have sworn that the breed was a sexed breed so I was positive I was buying a female....

It is not sexed by feather color or speed of growth. They are sexed by vent sexing. That is 95% accurate so you should have a pullet.

They share genes with EEs so they have a combination comb between pea and straight.

The hens in my Avatar are UofA blues
