Hi!
A couple of my friends have been telling me about this web site--they said I would enjoy reading all the different topics. It is already after midnight here--I have been on for over 2 hours! Wow--I better be careful--it is very addicting! But I must confess that it is really nice to know there are so many other people out there that enjoy their poultry as much as I do.
We moved from the city 9 years ago. It has always been my dream to own a little piece of land, and be surrounded by animals. 7 years ago we started out with a few eggs from the neighbors chickens in an incubator that I bought at the feed store. When that first chick peeped--I was in love! I have been addicted ever since!
I still remember the first egg I witnessed being layed. It had been raining all morning, and when I went out to check on our 9 chickens, I noticed one of our girls clucking a lot. I remembered reading that they make a lot of noise sometimes when they are about to lay an egg. I was determined to witness such an incredible miracle. I stayed in that chicken coop, watching her for two hours. I remember being SO excited when she finally laid her egg! It was beautiful! I tried to share with others about what I had witnessed, but no one else seemed to think it was a big deal. But to me--It was!
I still get SO excited every time I witness the miracle of a chick peeping out of its shell! "Welcome to the world!" I tell them.
