When I purchased my home just before Thanksgiving last year, I was surprised to learn that the six chickens "conveyed" with the home. I've never been around live chickens before and this is all completely new to me. I was really concerned at the time because I knew right away that these chickens' lives depend on me getting them through the winter. I wish I had found this site right-away but I did my research and the hens made it. Unfortunately I did loose two birds in a two week period recently though. One to a fox (I've since not let them out of their protected run until after sunrise) and the other to cannibalism (a "peck-out"). I'm very happy to have found this site, the community behind it and look forward to learning and being a better owner.
