Hello, My name is Tim. I live in Northwest PA. I got started with chickens a few years back when I picked up some birds at the county fair. Since then I have hatched chickens every spring. I enjoy raising Mallards too. Unfortunately, this spring a mink reduced my flock to 3 hens. I finally caught it after putting a WiFi camera in the coop and setting an alarm. Here is a long video the last night he was alive.
A friend hatched me 30 birds from our old flock, a very strange bunch. They are a mix of Silkey, Leghorn, Reds, Rocks and a few others. This round I ordered eggs from different sources and am trying about 5 or 6 or so different ones. They should start hatching on May 15th. Wish me luck. Because I am compulsive and ordered too many eggs I had to get a 2nd incubator and will have more birds than my coop will hold. If the Shamos and Shermas hatch I will need to have some separate spaces so everyone gets along. We started yesterday building a new coop and I am taking pictures to post.
