Welcome to BYC. I'm sorry for your losses. While Isa hens are friendly, and they are great layers, they often have reproductive problems from the high production. They also tend to stop laying well, or at all, after one to two years.

Welcome to BYC!!Hello from CT! I used to have a small flock of plymoth barred rock hens (got them in the summer of 2020), but I unfortunately lost them all this fall thanks to a predator who snuck it's way into the coop. I'm planning to start up a new flock again, and I'm looking to get ISA Browns this time around. I'm looking forward to connecting with other chicken owners!
Oh no! Do you have any recommendations for other breeds that are similar in temperament and egg production?Welcome to BYC. I'm sorry for your losses. I don't know of any of the high production breeds that don't have these problems. The heritage breeds such as australorps, rhode island reds, leghorns, and rocks may not lay as well day to day, but they will lay longer, and remain healthier.Oh no!
