Hi all! So happy to find this forum. I live in CT, someplace that does not allow chickens. (Poo on them! and make that chicken poo!). I'm getting them anyway. We have an acre and a half on a dead end rd, woods on three sides, I can hide them. LOL! I grew up on a farm in upstate NY and miss having chickens. We had all kinds, and my favorite chores on the farm were feeding time and collecting eggs. Our chickens were mostly free range, and cooped in the winter. My mom was the chicken tender, (hee hee) mostly. She loved her birds, that's for sure. In winter she would cook up kitchen scraps to give them a warm treat. I can't wait to get my coop, hopefully this weekend, and then some hens. Because we are not allowed to have chickens in my town, I can't get a rooster darn it. Roosters are so pretty. We bought some land in upstate NY and will be building a new house in a couple years, complete with a barn and a really nice Coop for a big rooster and my girls!
Looking forward to chatting with you all. I'll take all the guidance and info I can, it's been a long time since I've had chickens (27 years to be exact!) so I'm gonna need some help!
