Hi! :frow Welcome to BYC, from a fellow Washingtonian. I would suggest getting your next chickens as chicks. Depending on how you raise them you can make them as friendly as you like. I don't handle my chickens a lot, but they know me as the provider so they like me just fine. :D If you want to show yours, I think you do need to handle them from the time they are very little, just to make it easier to manage them for shows.
