Hello BYC,
The "DalysFarm" is really a suburban San Jose family who suddenly is home to quite an exciting group of new friends. We began as two parents and three boys. In the last year we added a second rescued dog. We also have a couple fish tanks that have been with us. But over the last month we brought home the science lab frog for summer break and rescued a red eared slider (water turtle) from a busy roadway. Most important for this site, we are the proud new parents of 4 chicks that hatched at the kindergarten about 4.5 weeks ago. They are currently in our playroom and we are madly researching how to care for them. We are looking at buying or making a coop, but need to know how many hens we will have to get the right size coop. We have been told that you can't keep roosters in our San Jose neighborhood. I tried to make a thread in the breed gender question forum on this site, so I'm hoping I did it right and loaded up pics correctly to see if any one can help us out. This site has been very helpful in educating us so far. The woman who got the eggs for the kindergarteners told me the chicks would be either Brahmas, Easter Eggers or a mixture of these. Anyway, happy to join this group and look forward to the day I'll feel like I can answer someone else's rookie chicken questions.
