I am retired after 44 years of working. We love the two sheep we now have. I know many people that have chickens and have helped us decide we wanted chickens as pets and for eggs. A neighbor down the road is going to start trying to hatch chickens. So when he asked it we would like some of his we said yes. I have read on here how great they are and how much fun. My grandchildren will love them. I have already learned so much from this site. Been looking at all the pictures of the coops and runs.

Have you looked at the Learning Center? Lots of great articles on chick raising, predator protection, etc there. If you'd like to chat about your sheep, visit our sister site: www.BackYardHerds.com Enjoy!

Welcome, I am relatively new to BYC and in the short time I have been here I have found everyone so helpful and friendly. I hope you enjoy the site and chicken keeping, it is infectious!

Greetings from Texas! We got into chickens because of our neighbors, and have not regretted it at all. They are easier pets than dogs or cats, and they make for terrific learning experiences for visiting grandchildren.

Hello :frow and Welcome to BYC! Chickens make great pets and are a ton of fun, you and your grandkids will enjoy them, and those fresh egs. Good luck with the coop building.
