New member here from Tennessee. When I was young my family raised chickens but that was long ago. Now that I have some property and time to work the farm, we are starting our adventure of raising chickens as well as other animals.

We currently have 16 chickens and 10 guineas and we have plans on growing those numbers.

The property has an old chicken coop that I will need to expand and update.

I would like to hear everyone’s stories, experience and ideas on how to get a good return on investment.

Hello and welcome to BYC. I hope that you enjoy your time here. Eggs paying for feed is about a good a return as it gets based on my experience

This is a useful link of “How to” BYC guides to take a look at announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3. I’d suggest including your location using the guide in the link. You can use this link to contact members in your area - Find your State's thread.

Best wishes

Hello from Southeast, TN! I can't offer you any advice, my first twelve chicks are coming on the 15th of this month. I really enjoy seeing guineas. Sometimes I see some while I'm driving to work, and I like to slow down and gawk at them if I can. Would love to see pics of your animals if you ever feel like sharing.
