Welcome to Backyard Chickens. The trick to getting chickens back where you want them is to offer "food" rewards. For instance offer a treat (Black oil sunflower seeds, or ???) in a container. Shake/rattle the container to get their attention. Throw a bit of seed out to make it worth their while.

After a time or two of this, the chickens should come running when you shake the seeds, and will be happy to follow you wherever you decide to go with them.
