My name is Paula I live in a small town in the middle of England (if you call it a village you get into trouble, the difference is a town holds a weekly market villages don't) I am saving up for a nice coop and run to go on my allotment so I can keep chickens (am going to look to rent some land as well for a couple of pigs) which will be kept on my allotment, an allotment is a piece of land you rent to grow food and keep chickens on (the 1950 allotment act allows this. Here are the ones I chose for my chickens to be

I know a lot of you build your own but my building skills are not very good so I don't think I could do it and I want the best for them.

I have two half plot allotments 16ft by 62ft that cost £12 for a year. The rent gets paid in february which is when the run and coop gets puts on the plot. Then I go to the Melton Mowbray feather and fur market to buy the chickens. This is the market where all sorts of feathered creatures can be brought from peafowls to turkeys. I know they will be spoiled but I have three cats for whom I brought http://www.angelicalcat.com/stackem-rstc-prods.shtml cat scratching post, the only person according to them to have exported their product out of America.

Welcome to BYC - so glad you joined us. We can learn so much from the country the BEST breed came from (Orpingtons of course!) (not that I'm partial...)
