Great egg layers that are calm are red sex links, Wyandottes, Delawares and Australorps just to name a few

from Ohio. If you look at Meyer hatchery (there are many others) on line, you will find a list of the chickens they carry. It will give a description of the different breeds, so you can choose the ones that best suit your needs. Some hens are calm and some are skittish. Some can handle heat and cold, others cannot.
