Hello from Florida

Glad to meet you and welcome to BYC. What a nice intro - we are nearly all of us head over heels in love with our birds, so we totally get it. Many of us are also owned by other animals as well. And a number of us are also serious Star Trek fans. So, you should fit right into a number of groups here!

PS I love that you have a hen that changes names depending on her behavior or the presence of your daughter. That is charming and hilarious at the same time. Yes. I also have children who have strong opinions about our animals!

Haha, so glad all that made sense and it's wonderful to know we all have so much in common here, notwithstanding our chickens! 😁♥️

Hello all,
I live in Florida up in the NWF panhandle and I'm here because I'm new to the art of raising chickens and wanted to find a community that I could go to with questions, problems, and just chicken talk in general.. I have four girls all 7 months old and now laying eggs. Two are Golden Comets named Chicken Little and Henny Penny (or bully when she's being a bully or Comet when my daughter is visiting) a Black Australorp named Mammy, and a Black Sex Linked named Capt KJ (in honor of Capt Kathryn Janeway of Star Trek Voyager 😁

I have fallen head over heels in love with my girls, wow what sweeties they are, not to mention SO entertaining!! I also have two felines (or they have me) who are still not quite sure what to make of these two legged cackling creatures who magically showed up in their back yard.

I did a lot of research when I decided I was going to do the 'back yard' chicken thing and I feel like I've learned quite a lot (thank you YouTube) but I know there is much more to learn so I am looking forward to some interesting conversations here! Can't wait to meet (virtually) the members here and talk chickens!
Welcome to BYC!! Merry Christmas!
