Hi, I'm a new member from east central Florida (born & raised :). I have an interest in learning about backyard chicken-keeping mostly for pets with the added benefit of fresh yummy eggs :). Have a special interest in bantam silkies which I have not purchased yet as I am currently researching all I can before moving ahead. Looking forward to learning lots and networking with those that have similar interests!

There are several silkie threads on BYC where you can see chicks and grown birds, ask whatever questions you have about the breed. etc? Silkies aren't known as a layer breed. They are much in demand as natural incubators - they tend to go broody and will hatch fertile eggs set under them, They are generally quiet and gentle and attract attention wherever they are.
