Hello everyone and Happy New Year! My New Year's resolution -- Add some black copper marans to my flock.
I started my chicken project this past summer. I built an 8x8 chicken coup and am very proud of it.
It has 3 windows in it, and a people door. It has the automatic chicken door opener and the nesting boxes protrude out the one side of it. It's painted butter yellow with cranberry trim with a matching cranberry metal roof. LOL I was worried about predation, so I put up a 20' by 10' metal chain link fence which is partially buried in the ground. The chain link covers the top as well. I have 15 chickens -- 10 cochin standards (buff, black, partridge), and 5 easter eggers. Two roosters total who get along nicely. I'm getting around 6-8 eggs per day. The neighbors and family get fresh eggs weekly.
This is such a wonderful site to get information from. It helped me out ALOT!
Besides the chickens, I have an outside cat Jake and a 120 gallon aquarium loaded with a mixture of tinfoil barbs, silver dollars, butterfly fish, etc.
Enough of me.. I just thought it high time I became a registered user.
