I have been searching and looking through this site, and have just now decided to get an account, lol. It has been great use for me so far. Anyway, I will say what my flock consists if then. I am mainly into silkies. I have one black silkie named Chewy, one partidge named Honey, one barred rock x silkie named Semore, and what I assume to be a lavender d'uccle named Nugget. Anyway, thank you so much for having me! Here is a picture of my babies (The paint silkie most recently died from a predator who got into the cage I though was predator prooof. It was a very, very bad day):

Beautiful birds! And welcome to BYC!

I have a small silkie flock. It use to be larger, but we lost two of ours to predators. We had silkies a few years ago that we lost to predators too. They are awesome birds, but terrible at escaping trouble.

As for my silkies, I have a rooster (blue) named Azul, a white naked-neck named Flo (he was suppose to be a hen but turned out to be a rooster, hints the name)< and Princess, our hen. We also had Mavis, but she suffered head trauma and we ended up loosing her a few months later.
Other silkies we had included Fred, Ginger, Toto and Cole.

Handsome Fred!

Flo, my DJ chicken

Princess, a great mother

Fed and Ginger, snuggled up to our kitten. They come from the same farm together

Mavis, my indoor silkie

My silkie flock, including Azul (blue), Toto (black-headed partridge) and Cole (black)

Susie, my silkie mix. She is a broody chicken too!

Best of luck with your birds!

Silkies are especially prone to predator attacks because they don't fly - they generally just jump. Because of their big crests their vision is obscured and they don't notice predators sneaking up on them. Very good reasons why silkies shouldn't be free ranged.

It appears you have 2 threads going here in the new member section...so, welcome again, lol.

Welcome for a fellow Georgian! So glad you have joined us.

So sorry about your loss, better luck in the future and have corrected the entry access.

You have a beautiful flock.

Oops. Just realized I have two posts.:idunno Sorry, guys. It didnt tell me it submitted, so I did another. Lessen learned, lol.

Chicken Obssessed, I love, love, love that black-headed partirdge! And that picture with them and the kittens is adorable!!!!

Thank you guys for the welcome. :) It didnt help that my little Ash only had two toes on his right foot either. I guess I have learned my lesson, and at least whatever it was didnt take all of them from me.

@GitaBooks , your Susie sure is a pretty girl. Nice to see your pictures!
