Very newbie here. Ordered 9 pullets from Ideal Poultry picked them up about 2 weeks ago. All babies doing well! I won't be able to keep all of them so I have someone ready to take all I won't be able to keep. I live in a subdivision and also can't have roosters. :(
Here are a few snapshots of the baby girls from last night. (2wks/4days)
2-Buff Orpington, 2-Barred Rock, 2-Australorp, 1-Brahma and 2-Ameraucana.

Thank you all~ I've been reading around on the site for a few months. Just recently created an account. I am so excited to get things settled for the girls. Coop is on the way, prefab is how I had to go since hubby isn't jumping in to make one :D

Aww, cute chicks! I can almost remember when my girls were so small. Take lots of pictures because they grow very fast!

If you haven't already done so, you might want to check out the Learning Center. There are a lot of very good articles in there that will help you get off to raising chickens on the right foot.

Enjoy your new flock!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before joining.) Your chicks are adorable. Thanks for posting the pics. I've ordered pullets from Ideal on a number of occasions and always ordered in batches of 25, even when I didn't need that many. Since I've always had the order form showing that I ordered pullets, I've never had any trouble selling off the extra chicks and recouping my money. If you haven't done so already, definitely our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Welcome! We're about 8 weeks ahead of you, living in a subdivision in Georgia with 8 hopefully hens-2 Australorps, Barred Rock, Red Star, RIR, Dominique, Americauna, Light Brahma. We continue to learn as we go. There were a few weeks when we were overwhelmed with building a coop when the prefab house I bought wasn't going to be big enough. There is lots of help on this site! Enjoy them! Hold each one every day so they get used to it!

Welcome to BYC. I have a inkling that the upstanding BR chick in the fourth photo may be a cockerel. Otherwise nothing is screaming BOY at this point. If his comb starts reddening up at a early age - put up more photos.
