HI, y'all! I am new to BYC and forums in general, so I will do my best to follow the rules! I have enjoyed reading others' posts and look forward to learning more.
We got started with chickens in March 2008, when my daughter got 20 chicks as a 4H project. She raised them and showed some in the county fair, winning several ribbons. We still have 17, all Bantams. Blue Silkies and Black Cochins. (We've only lost one, but had to give away some roosters who did not play well with others)
We also have 3 dogs, a ferret, and a leased horse for my daughter.
We knew absolutely nothing about raising chickens when we got started and still have a lot to learn! But, we are really enjoying them----more than I ever imagined.
