Hello all. I've been lurking here for a few days and decided to join.
Raised chickens for a few years, many years ago, and plan to resume this spring. Back then I had some mixed game chickens that were started from a trio my uncle gave me. The predators finally wiped me out.
I enjoy most anything food related and the older I get the more I have become interested in self sufficiency. When I'm finally able to retire in a few years would like to grow all our food.
Been enjoying reading what the folks here have to say while I plan on how to build accomodations for the birds and just what type to get.
The plan now is to get a couple dozen straight run chicks, maybe Wyandottes. We will eat all but 4-5 hens and a rooster this summer and see how it goes from there.
