Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Yorkshire Coop has given you excellent links to check out. The research of raising chickens is very important and you've definitely come to the right place for learning. We are happy to help in any way we can, so feel free to ask any questions. Our learning center is the best place to start. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center)

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. Murray McMurray has an excellent "chick selector" tool at https://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/chick_selector.html to help you determine which breeds are best for you. Just be sure and click on "show more characteristics." Even if you're not planning on getting your chickens from Murray McMurray, the "chick selector" is still a very useful tool. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your flock.
