Yamhill, Oregon
In the Spring of 2011 we moved 3,500 miles from Florida to Oregon, purchased and started a small farm. Then in May of that same year, we purchased a small flock of 6 Buff Orpingtons laying hens that were approximately 2 years old.

Chickens: 27 total

17 Orpingtons: Lav, Black Lav Split and Blue
7 Red Old English Game Bantams
3 Easter Eggers

Ducks: 34 total ( 5 ducks and 29 ducklings)

5 adult Welsh Harlequins
26 Kaki Campbell ducklings
3 White Layer ducklings

I found out about BackYardChickens.com by searching for information online in the Spring of 2011. BYC has great information and has helped me learn so much. I finally became a member a few days ago after seeing information about the 4th Annual BYC New Year Day Hatch-along. What FUN!!!

My husband and I care for our two young sons, my elderly Father; 24 Goats: 17 Dairy goats, 7 Meat goats; 2 House pets: 1 dog and 1 cat… No wonder I am exhausted all the time. Best dream ever-Don’t wake us up!

Irony: About 4 months after becoming a poultry keeper I developed an egg sensitivity and can no longer eat eggs. L

Very excited to be a member of BYC!!!

Glad you joined us!

That is ironic about the egg sensitivity. Sounds like some of my kind of luck.

Yes, no go with the duck eggs too. Read that I might be able to tolerate either whites or yolks but not brave enough to try. Oh well, at least my family and our customers get to eat farm fresh eggs. I had forgotten how different they are from store bought eggs.

Thanks to everyone for making me feel welcomed!
