Hello all!

Just started with 3 Cochins in south Houston - only 6 weeks old. Very excited to raise them, and nervous too. Live right by the bayou with lots of coons and predators. Planning a sturdy coop and hoping for the best.

Make sure you keep your eyes open for those coons. I'd hate to see your birds disappear.

I will! That's my #1 concern in building a very sturdy coop. Am planning to use some heavy duty galvanized steel to reinforce, Nite Guards, and sturdy locks. They are so wicked smart!

That's the final project. Then I got me some free pallets :

This is what I did with a vietnam vet friend :

He did the welding :

I asked him to weld a piece to hold the flag :

Then I got free pallets from someone off Craigslist :

Used that for flooring:

No way a racoon can sneak it!
