What do you think of Orpingtons? They are apparently very docile and sweet natured and seem to be good egg layers.

I've never had them, but have heard good things about them. If I recall correctly, though, they eat LOTS! Several folks on here have them in many different colors, and they're beautiful.

What kind of chickens are you keeping?

I've got French Copper Black Marans (hatched from the eggs in my avatar), B/B/S Jersey Giants, Ameraucana, a Wheaten Penedesenca, a few mutts....and God willing, some Silver Penciled Rocks and Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas. I like a colorful flock!

There are LOADS of breeds I'd love to have, but I just don't have enough room for them all.

Congratulations on your new house! I love the idea of an old-style coop. One of the moderators here, MissPrissy, has an old one that she fixed up. It's amazing!
