Hi all!

Just wanted to say hello. I am VERY new and researching some options for raising chickens in my backyard. I do have dogs. I have heard so many mixed reviews about this. My dogs are very behaved, and I really believe if we introduce them as chicks, that they will be of no harm. Any thoughts, or experience from other dog owners out there?

Also, best coop options...and go....

Thanks!

Hi and :welcome from Ohio. So glad you joined. I have Weimaraners and it is in their blood to go after birds but they were taught the words "leave it" so they no longer care about them. :thumbsup

It really depends completely on the individual dog involved. Introduce your dogs to the birds separately, as when there are more than 1 dog they have a different behavior towards potential prey. And no unsupervised contact. Some dogs are very unreliable towards chicks but tolerate adult birds better.
