Hello from Idaho

thank you De

thank you Debby. I am very excited to start planning for my chicks. Looking at some coop plans...not too big not too small.

Just remember, the chickens won't care if it's fancy or not, they'll just care that it has plenty of room and ventilation. If you have coop questions, the good folks over on this forum will be glad to help:

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Congratulations on your retirement! Keeping chickens is an excellent retirement hobby. Do yourself a huge favor and build a walk-in style coop with poop boards and tons of ventilation with a very large predator proof run attached. You won't regret it and it makes the entire experience so much more enjoyable.
I appreciate your advise. I do like the looks of a walk in chicken house! 4x6 coop will fit how many hens?

Chickens need a minimum of 5 square feet per bird in the coop, not including roosts and nest boxes. So 4 birds, maybe 5 birds would be max for your coop. :) The more space you give chickens, the less likely they will turn on each other.

Good to know, thank you. I would be happy with 4. I have a spot in the garden that would accommodate a coop that size. now to narrow it down to 4 little chicks...that will be the hard part. 🐥
