Hello....
I just want to say thanks for offering this forum to chat and learn from each other. I have read this site many times when I get in a jam and decided sitting here tonight I want to join in the fun. We have a bunch of chickens. I have to say the favs are the Buff Orpingtons, Ameraucanas, and Jersey Giants but I have come to think several are special no matter what. We have 2 that are pets one is Cindy she is Americauna and Elmer he is a BarredRock. We have had chickens several time with little luck in keeping them due to coyotes would clean us out in one or 2 nights. This year we changed few things and wow we still have most of our flock. We have alot of variety to our selection due to I enjoy watching them so the colors and personalities make it even better. We started buying this batch in April as most do from the local feed/farm stores getting all pullets and well ended up with one Buff Orphington rooster lol out of that too. Then we purchased offline 100 with mix cause other half loves chicken to eat as well. I am getting more health conscious with my health not being the greatest....but that isnt for poor me its hey pay attention less processed more natural stuff for ya. I have 5 labs that keep me moving so the chickens except a few will have their "forever home" as well. Anyway I am getting off subject as I can do...I love to talk about all my "babies". Since the kids have left home I just seem to keep adding to my collection of things I need to call vet for instead of pediatrician for...lol. I have as of last head count last night lol it was bad 3 times 3 numbers and middle would be 100 head in my little flock. We live on a nice size farm that we no longer farm ourselves due to life ya know how that goes. It seems with time neither of us were happy without the farm being productive with livestock and pretty pastures. So we took another go at this farm life we love so much. I have to say it is wonderful when I look out and things seem to be coming to life even as fall has come and sitting a spell. I love to do various needlework, sew and quilt...I also have bad pogo/facebook addiction lol but shhh I dont admit that. My other half he is into alot of things from r/c vehicles, chainsaws, tractors, omw the list can go on and on. Guess I should add that I am the one with the lab addiction too lol but I still need to add a silver lab. I have 2 yellow 1 each of white, chocolate and black. Well I have managed to jabber so much I think I need to stop boring ya with the small details of my world and get back to reading more in the forums cause I have a lot of things to learn yet from all the wonderful members who give the suggestions or ideas.....off to find a post...ttyl
