Hello BackYard Chickens people!

I'm definitely new to this community and I'm trying to do as much research and learning as possible before the chicks arrive. Due to general logistics, we've settled on a shipment of chicks getting sent out on July 17th from My Pet Chicken. Split the shipping cost with a friend looking to raise chicks as well, so in total, spent about $25 on 2 vaccinated easter eggers.

City ordinance is no roosters and up to 2 birds, so fingers crossed they all make it and they're all girls! They'll be for eggs and as pets, and I'm planning on building a coop in the backyard over a few days while they're brooding.

Looking forward to sending pics in a few months!

Do keep us posted on your progress and be sure to post pictures as soon as they arrive!

Welcome!

As you have already received links to some good starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

My Pet Chicken gets their birds from a hatchery. When your chicks are 6-8 weeks old, you can post photos at "what breed or gender is this." and hopefully you will get the good word that they are pullets.
