Hello ! I live in Marshall County, Il & I’m planning on starting to have, maybe 6 chicks this Spring. First time ever ! I would like to learn what feeders & watering systems work well yr round, I’ve been researching for awhile so I just need help on what works best here in central Illinois. Our coops have 5-gallon nipple buckets but the coops are all kept to 40F. For the outdoor growout pens, we use those 3-gallon heated nipple buckets. They make them larger I believe. We have the white ones with red lids and think we got them at Fleet Farm. Even in those subzero temps, surprisingly, they made it. They're sheltered from the elements, but still, they kept going even in the -30F temps. They got ice inside around the rim on those days.
