I have been "snooping" on this site for awhile and decided to officially join this morning.

Family lives on a small hobby farm in se Indiana. We currently have chickens and turkeys. I am not new to this. I use to own a larger farm in Arkansas where we had a large variety of animals and crops. As we get older, we have down sized.

I am dealing with an issue I have never faced. A very mean and aggressive "Easter Egger" female. She is not mean to us, but is very aggressive toward the other chickens and even the turkeys (if she manages to get over in their yard).

We have had several smaller chickens end up with broken legs (getting pushed off and bullied, and yet we have plenty of roosting space) and one bantam rooster we just found dead with peck marks.

We have done the solitary confinement out of sight of the other chickens. She settles down for just a day or so and then is right back to her old ways. We even put her in with the bigger turkeys to see if that would help. Nope.

She is the largest chicken with the biggest beak. Help? Are we just going to have to eat her?

I'm sorry you're having issues with one of your girls, it sounds like she is a terror to the rest of the flock. You might have to cull her if other solutions like separation don't work. I had a similar experience with one of our girls and we were able to re-home her to a friend that was familiar with the behavior issues. Once she was gone, our flock was much more relaxed and egg laying increased some.

You might ask on your state thread if anyone else would want her:

Good luck to you. Thanks for joining us!

Yes, eat her. The meanest birds are supposed to be the tastiest. Her reign of terror and death has lasted far too long. What a shame she has maimed or killed so many.
