I have a flock of 24 hens only about 20 weeks old, varied breeds. I'm hoping to see eggs in the next few weeks! So far I've picked up a lot of helpful info from BYC. Thanks to everyone for the advice and knowledge.
I have one question though. I have 2 Ameracauanas that have lost tail feathers. Only these two. It has happened at night. The coop is very secure with half inch hardware cloth over windows, locked doors. They usually roost on lower level. Could the other hens be picking at them during the night? Coop is kept very clean, I see no signs of lice or mites. They are locked in around 9 to 930 pm and let out at 7 to 8 every morning. Need some ideas to help these poor funny looking little girls.

Post a few pictures of these chickens.
I would advice to double check at night time for mites too.
Welcome to BYC!

Thanks. I've read that you can see them crawling up their legs. I'll try to get some pics but these two will not leave coop at all. It's elevated so I can't crawl in to get to them. Oh the joys...
