I am originally from our capital, Dublin, but now live one county further south in Kildare, 30 mins by train from Dublin city. Great to hear so many nice comments about Ireland, although, like everywhere, our country is struggling right now.

Go raibh maith agaibh to those who welcomed me "as Gaeilge"!

Yes indeed, chicken keeping has exploded in Ireland. It's the fastest growing hobby in Europe in fact! Breeders can't keep up with the demand for hens and carpenters are making a fortune selling over-priced coops.

We love it so far. The girls are so relaxing to look at, the kids are having so much fun, and we have met and talked to people we never would have come across otherwise.

All of that before we even get an egg!
